About Bobteam Portugal

First team since 1988

The unique and last Portuguese bobsleigh participation during Olympic Games was in Calgary 1988 until… NOW !
A new team is born and we are back for Milan 2026.

A new team is born form the determination of one portuguese athlete to participate to the Winter Olympic Games. The history began in november 2020 after a call between Raphaël RIBEIRO, portuguese athlete, and Pedro FLAVIO, portuguese federation Vice President.

Immediately, an enthusiasm grew inside the portuguese federation and the board management decided to support the Bobsleigh project. And here we are, the begining of an amazing adventure.

Since 16 years we are working together with Raphaël RIBEIRO. He was a great athlete in javelin during 8 years before to move to bobsleigh.

To make and build a great athlete and pilot it needs a minimum of 7 years of hard work. As we use to say, NO PAIN, NO GAIN! Since 16 years Raphaël RIBEIRO accumulate a huge experience which is an asset for pushing and piloting a bobsleigh.

Now, the other huge challenge is to build a strong team to represent Portugal in each winter bobsleigh competition. Training them is an opportunity that I’m proud of. Let’s go to Winter Olympic Games Milan 2026.
